The caring of 135 children brings them into contact with the gospel they would never otherwise have. It's our privilege through your help to bring the gospel to the most vulnerable in society. We have seen some of these young people saved. Indeed one of the sisters in the assembly (Ira) who helps in this work was once one of these children herself.
Brethren and sisters what is the value of a soul?
£20/$32 per child per month is not a lot of money but when multiplied by 187 (135 children + 52 special needs children) it is large. Your practical sacrifice no matter how small is of immense value to us. Do please remember us in your prayers that the Lord will provide.
100 Children taught the scriptures daily and fed.
Bobby & Elizabeth Carson (who are such a help in this work) visited us here in Lutsk during October to see how the work progresses. Every day approx. 100 children sing choruses, learn passages of Scripture (in 2011 they have been able to quote John ch 10 and 1Tim ch2) as well as listen to a Bible story. This is an amazing work and we believe a work that will be a true blessing. Without your support these children would not get a hot meal, nor would they have help regarding their clothes and medicines.
52 Special needs children
One sister in the assembly (Vita) has the responsibility to visit each apartment twice a month and deliver a food bag + pampers, clothes and shoes. No words of ours could describe the totally pitiful conditions these children live in! Many of these children live and die in 1 room never having even been outside. What a privilege for the assembly here in Lutsk, through your help, to show just a little care.
Brethren and sisters it means so much!
Mykola, 17 years old has been paralyzed from birth. The only other boy in the family was paralyzed from birth and died 8 years ago. Mykola's mother doesn't work as she has to look after him.
35 orphans
At the beginning of September I had a meeting with the director of all 26 schools here in Lutsk. With tears in her eyes she asked me if I could take responsibility to provide a hot meal for another 110 children whom she described as the "poorest of the poor" cases in Lutsk. We visited each apartment and came back to the director having decided before the Lord to take care of 35 children, who live in the vicinity of the Gospel Hall. Just in the last weeks 8 of these children have started to attend Sunday School. These children are orphans and some of them have major health problems. Without salvation the future for these children is unthinkable. It is hard to visit these children and remain untouched. We can't help all the children of the world so does that mean we should close our eyes and help none!! The "fatherless" have a special place in the heart of "God and the Father", James 1:27 and it is our privilege to help some.
Karina, 9 years old, Myroslava, 11 and Vika 8.
The girls' father died from tuberculoses and the girls' mother left them a long time ago and no one knows where she is. They are being looked after by their grandmother & grandfather. Also in the apartment is the grandmothers father who has leukemia (can't walk) and the grandmothers son who is divorced. I have stood in this apartment and listened to the cries of the grandmother "what is going to happen to the girls if I die". Salvation is the only answer and through your kindness Karina, Myroslava and Vika are now coming under the sound of the gospel.
Tetiyna, 27 years old is paralyzed and an epileptic. Her father died 10 years ago and her brother died 5 years ago. Her mother Svitlana is an invalid with a mental disorder. Svetlana's grandmother also helps to look after Tetiyna and to survive they collect empty bottles in the central park. They live in a 2 room apartment and the urine stench of the bedclothes is hard to stomach.
Olya, 15 years old lives with her grandmother who is deaf in 1 room and shares a toilet and shower (no doors) with 40 other people living on the same corridor! Her mother dies in 2006 and her father in 2011. Olga has diabetes and is injected 4 times a day. Rhoda and Heather Anderson have just bought Olga a new coat and hat for winter. Olga attends our Sunday school.
